چکیده

Using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach, environmental benefits in terms of CO2 stored chestnut wood Italy have been calculated. one methodologies proposed under LCA umbrella, a physical and formal balance sheet has built. Chestnut forests (Castanea sativa Mill.) are most critical forest types Europe. They cover an area 800,000 hectares Italy, which managed as coppices. wood’s high-quality physical-chemical mechanical characteristics medium-long durability explains its widespread uses. In this case study section public Central (Lazio Region) considered. section, during rotation, two intervention were carried out: thinning at 19 years age, final cutting age 32. A production 416 93 m3ha−1 for thinning, respectively, was recorded. The global amount 507 m3 is functional unit, 547,875 kgCO2. combination management sawmill processing produces semi-finished timber products 125 m3, storage 135,210 CO2, total emissions from recorded 27,766 At exit sawmill, 107,444 kgCO2, Net-Carbon Dioxide Surplus (Net-CDS). Transportation to market reduces sequestered by 0.77 kgCO2/km. Net-CDS represents competitive advantage market. If tree species same physical, chemical, price parameters, consumer would prefer buy with highest Net-CDS.

ISO Net Surplus Extraction in Restructured Wholesale Power Markets

This study uses dynamic 5-bus and 30-bus test cases to explore the net surplus (congestion rents) collected and redistributed by ISOs in restructured wholesale power markets with grid congestion managed by locational marginal pricing. The price-sensitivity of demand and the learning capabilities of generators are taken as treatment factors. A key finding is that ISO net surplus substantially in...

Usefulness of end-tidal carbon dioxide as an indicator of dehydration in pediatric emergency departments

Physician assessment of hydration status is one of the most important factors in the management of dehydration in the pediatric emergency department (ED). Overestimating dehydration may lead to overtreatment with intravenous fluids or unnecessary hospitalization, whereas underestimation may lead to delayed therapy and aggravation of symptoms. Various methods to estimate hydration status have be...
